As I said yesterday, me and Rosie ventured around Bristol popping in a few charity shops and one such 'Save the Children' was where my great fabric stash was found thanks to a fab little ol lovely who had been keeping a fabric 'stash'.
I scored 6meters of an olive green flecked linen, one striped navy tweed, one greyish brown tweed and another darker as well as a funky blue and green printed voile, all for the grand total of... wait for it.
£10! TEN EARTH POUNDS!?!
So amazing So yet again there has been plotting about what i can make, If im nt that careful and economical I can make,
A matching dress and jacket from the linen,
2 Tweed Pencil Skirts
2 Voile shirts with peter pan collars (one for Rosie!)
and one Tweed Jacket.
Totaling 7 Garments for 10 pounds!!!?
HAVE THAT PRIMARK! £10 to charity and 7 garments for me that went towards helping a community!
This is all well and good but I have been planning my Autumn make list for a while and It looks something like this:

I have also come across my coat fabric, I decided it should be either Mustard, Royal Blue or Lavender, all unusual choices so I imagined the choice would be made for me by the shop.
To my shock my little market had all three! in the end I settled on a gold/mustard coloured wool with a slight pattern in it at £6 a meter. But Mrs, I know how much fabric I need guessed and didn't buy enough for my coat and instead bought 4meters of interfacing that I already had (DUH) as well as a nice soft blue (AGAIN WITH THE BLUE!) linen with a pretty scalloped edge. Oh well photos of those tomorrow. I also altered my pattern for the Joan dress (butterick retro '52) and intend to draft some little cap sleeves and make a start on finishing the thing!
PLEDGE : I WILL NOT BUY ANY MORE FABRIC UNTIL I HAVE COMPLETED SAID PROJECTS.

What a find! The only fabric I've ever found in London charity shops is horrible smelly orange curtains. Brighton is so great for thrifters and seamsters. I like your little drawings - so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tilly! I failed miserably at design at college but it helps me visualize a lot better! One of my projects is a version of your Birthday party dress, did you use a pattern? I'm far too lazy to draft an inverted pleat but I love the colour combination!
